He is survived by his daughters Katharine V Stark of Warwick and Deborah Van Orden-Smith of Marengo, Ill., and their husbands, his step-son William Maude of Cranston and seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. If the unexpected should happen, you can rest easy that I have enjoyed a really great life, three great marriages, wonderful loving children and grandchildren plus a happy retirement. What more could anyone ever want?"
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Luke's life will take place on Saturday, June 2, from 3-5 p.m. at the home of Henry and Kathy Hanley, 36 South of Commons Road in Little Compton. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the L.J. Van Orden Fund at the RI Foundation, One Union Station, Providence, RI 02903.
